2 What'sit

First item is made of brass 1 3/4 in tall 1 5/8 in wide hole diameter 1 in has a wide square hole beveled to a smaller square opening only on one side and below that what looks like a where a set screw would go. also has a small notch on one side.
Second item may be from a billford holder; as it has a flat loop as if it were made to go over a belt. also has a hole at the bottom through both side and back where a loop may have held a chain or something similar. probably not very old

all items in pic were found at a short lived stagecoach stop/inn. thanks

As small as you say it is I'll say it's a conector piece for something like this bed(crib).And the two other holes would be for 2 different shaped rails to slide in.
