Hey all. I am new here, but have always been interested in this field. As a result, i have found two VERY possible sites, but both may also have absolutely no truth to them. I will upload pics as soon as i figure out how.

Firstly, there is a story i heard while spending time in Utah. Although i was skeptical at first, the pictures, map, and newspaper article made me believe this. A friend (trustworthy guy) told me about his grandfather. his granddad and a friend were both young and enjoyed hiking and searching caves. they found a cave (my friend has the map drawn by his granddad, and i could easily obtain it) found a cave MILES into a canyon north of Provo. inside the cave was a ton of old artifacts, jewlery, and coins. granddad and friend filled their pockets, eager to get home. upon leaving the cave, they were allegedly visited by a man in aged looking armor (very outdated) weilding a sword and musket. he told them that the find was cursed, and they must return it. granddad did, friend replaced all but one silver necklace with a cross. on the way down the mountain, friend tripped and fell. they made it back to the city, where friend died after 3 weeks in the hospital. his cause of death was unknown, but his last words were to "avoid the cave" (hence the article). to this day, the cross has remained in my friends family, and he still wears it to date, but refuses to even go near the cave.

My second "find" is a story told to me by my grandfather. As i am nearly 20, he told me of how he spent his youth. searching for this one particular treasure spot. According to him, if you go to this one particular cathedral in Juarez, Mexico (right next to El Paso) and watch the mountains that run through el paso, the sun will shine on the site of the gold, telling you where it is. Although this sounds a bit fantastic, my grandpa isnt losing it quite yet. Out of the two "finds" i told him i would search for this one. and hopefully, theres some truth to this story.

Anyways, i was hoping some of you with more experience could tell me how to go about searching for these, or if they are even worth it. Although they both sound too good to be true, i am sure there is some truth to the stories, and i would really like to pursue them. Comment back, or PM me with any suggestions, tips, or info.

P.S. Marc, im sorry. i didnt realize i had to have the google earth pics here. i will try to get some, and add them asap.

The Texas/El Paso story you are relating is a well known one. I can't remember which book right now, but it is written down in a book of lost mines and buried treasures. I am pretty sure it is one of J. Frank Dobie's books that carries this tale. There may be others... Look for a book on Treasure Legends of the Southwest by W.C. Jameson as well.

Hello Nate p, them were interesting stories.the one where your friend has a map you'd have a better chance of looking.the second story is more difficult to solve, not enough information. The problem you would have is looking across the border.there's too much problems. With the drug trafficking. Imworking with the same problem.and have to watch for drug smugglers.good luck keep us posted on your adventures.

First treasure stroy: the stuff is cursed. Don't touch it

Second rteasure story: the stuff is in mexico. Dangerous place, don't touch it.

Based on where you live there has got to be lots of treasure legends or Spanish trails/monuments to follow. Pick something closer to home.

Just my opinion.
