2 piece button? or what?

My friend trying to find out what he got.. Sorry I only have these photos.. I told him it looks like it was a
two piece button, back part is missing, and it got flatten but I dont know.. Civil war related?

Possibly the face of a bridle rosette. Not military but mimicking military - like a patriotic item.

Very cool find, stuff like that is what gets my heart pumping. I’d agree with Matt, definitely a bridle rosette although I’d say it could be military, could be patriotic.
