a old high school friend shot me a message on FB saying he does some quadding and knows of a few colonial foundations.i talked to him today and got directions.
I found 2 of the foundations and buttons were surfacing at both sites.a large crotal bell,a sportsman buttin with a WADHAMS & CO superfine backmark a large dandy or cloak button & a double holed 1831 large cent came from the 2nd site.any ideas on the flattened ornate cone shaped brass item?
the 1st site is very overgrown with ferns.spent about 2 hours at each site.I think a return trip is in store when ferns are dead.these sites have more potential for sure!
Thanks Dave G from high school for the lead on these 2 sites!

Great job there! lots of nice relics, cant wait to see what else comes outta there. Looks like someone made a coat button with th LC.

i would love to find a few 1700s cellar holes, but the oldest building here only go back to the mid 1830s. i like the giant crotal bell

too heavy for a button.back then a popular toy was made with round objects and a string.called buzzers or whirligigs

I would love to find a BIG crotal like that one.

Very nice sportsman.

Tapered piece, just a guess, a walking stick end ??

I found a 1799 "buzzer" about a month ago.

Very nice finds today Dave!
Looks like there was a nice pattern on the front of that Dandy button!
I was thinking that the "tapered piece" might be from a knife sheath? :icon_scratch:
The double holed 1831 large cent is in great shape, except for the eye holes of course! :laughing7:

Dave

What! No chain Cents???? :laughing9: :laughing9: :laughing9: I'll tell ya, you got some good spots up there. Go for it man......................................Rich

Killer finds for sure Dave :headbang:

Im waiting for the vegetation to die also for some of my sites

I stand corrected.
i'm not 100% sure on my theory you may be right too but,a button that heavy wouldn't last long on the coat i would think

Another stellar Hunt!
Great variety ;D
Awesome Ram button :o
I got a "button Cent" too a while back (Mud Find, Toasted)
Check that bell for the RW mark described below,
the design visible looks remarkably similar.
Congrats on more goodies for your displays

I like too as long as it's safe. I like the fields and surrounding areas mostly, beaches occasionally but I'm too far from the ocean to get in there on time and get a good start before all you guys get there!

Thats the third Sportsman button with an Ibex I have seen on here.I never had seen that one previous.Awesome!!!
