Best I can offer is to get into the water knee to waist deep if your detector is waterproof. Otherwise, hunt the wet sand to the water's edge at low tide.

Good luck, and let us know how you do.

Jim

Yea i guess i should go in the water as much as i can. Havent really done that yet.

slow like a snail and dig all those funny or broken sounds if you want to find jewerly you have to dig everything and I mean everything. Good Luck

thanks

Although I haven't used my X-50 at a saltwater beach, the approach I take on fresh water beaches is put it in all metal and dig from a 9 on up.

Good luck and post your finds!

Bob, go up to like 100th street or so, where those real expensive high rises are. the people that stay at those places have money and are more likely to be wearing nice jewelry!

GET in the water Thats where all the cheese Is ..... good luck... Guzz

Looks like your low tide in that area for the next two days would be peaking around noon. Get to the water's edge about 11 am and hunt right at the water line. Keep doing that through about 1 pm or after. If you stick with the water line during that time, you will actually be changing the line you hunt as you walk because the tide is going out at 11 til it peaks then it will start back in after it reaches absolute low tide. I would find a starting point and hunt in one direction down the beach for about forty five minutes or so and then turn and come back to your start point and then do the trip again. Staying with the water line assures you are not covering the same ground if you are working down the beach and then coming back up the beach because as the tide moves, your line will too.

The previous tips are right on. The keys as stated are to go slow (I take half baby steps), overlap your swings, listen for any small sound, investigate any sound that is clearly not a false signal, keep your fingers crossed and good luck. If you hear a really weak signal which indicative of a deep small object, check the hole again after your first scoop of sand is removed. If that sound is now much better, you are probably onto something.

The trash will be less at the water's edge so signals there have a greater chance of being a goody.

Have fun and let us know if anything good comes of all this "professional talk" :icon_jokercolor:

well i went out and no luck today. Some other guy was quick to show me a ring he found though which pushed me a lil harder but still nuttin

there are a lot of people out today so im gonna hit the beach tonite and tomorrow before i leave. Should i stick to just the water line or switch between wet and dry?

there are some good finds on dry sand and if you get the chance and the people are gone hit the places where they were, but you will find loads of trash there also. I wouldn't hit it unless you have the time. Usually when you step into the water a little ways there is a groove or a slight downhill. I would try hunting that and then if your not turning anything up hunt the wet sand right where people would sit and the water would tickle your toes. I am assuming you are finding other stuff right? Coins, keys, hot wheels, bottle caps, sunglasses, cell phones and hair barretts? If all you are finding are coins then your going about it the wrong way and need to dig everything especially the lower tones, and the ones you would swear are trash. Perhaps the beach there is just worked too well and its not there to find. Either way its good to be out hunting. I promise you there are many days I find nothing special. Places where they play volleyball or other things on dry sand are great to hunt, you'll at least pick up clad.

GOOD LUCK I HOPE YOU BRING HOME THE GOLD!

yea im finding more than just coins. Sometimes some of the signals i get are choppy or clicky and i just assume its just trash. Does jewelery sound like that sometimes?

yes a lot of the time jewelry will sound like that and as you dig the sound gets better. It doesn't mean its gold, but it could be plated or a junk ring but hey still a ring.

yea a lot of my signals are reading at 2 or 3 different numbers it bein coins or whatever. So i pretty much dig anything
