I'm literally beside myself. I went treasure hunting....in my own house and found these 2 rings. I know what they are, a 14kt gold band and a Navajo Sterling silver turquoise ring. What I DON'T know, is who the maker's of these rings are. The gold band is marked W 14KT and the 14KT is underlined. The ring is marked with a bird or dragon claw "NIE RA Sterling". Does anyone know who these maker's are?

I also just received a sterling silver diamond ring and I'm wondering about the maker's mark on that too. Its a M inside a circle. View attachment 1481118View attachment 1481119View attachment 1481120View attachment 1481121

Love finding rings, and you've got some great finds there! Not sure on the marks, but you'll likely get guidance on here. Might try posting it on Today's Finds area of the site. Congrats! :occasion14:

Thank you so much! I don't even know where they came from. I was looking through my stuff for things to sell and they were in a bowl that, for lack of a better word, was like a "junk" bowl. But this is definitely not junk! I found some other stuff too, but not as awesome as these!

My brother is a huge collector of just about anything, so he probably found them and threw them in there.

You've definitely posted in the right place! :icon_thumright: If you could post pictures of all of the rings and close-ups of the markings it would be most helpful. Many on here will not open up attachments and I can only see 1 picture? Thanks!

Sorry about that. I copied it from a duplicate from another forum, so I guess instead of inserting it into the post, it created a link

I just found it! I was looking at it again and realized there were extra letters before and after the NIE RA. Its Bennie Ration.

I've known Bennie since the 70's. He's a very accomplished silversmith. Some of his work goes for really good money.

Bennie hasn't made a lot of rings in his career. The piece you have is an early pendant that was converted to a ring. It's extremely likely that it was not Bennie who put that ring shank on the pendant. Bennie is an accomplished jeweler and the the shank addition isn't nearly the quality of work that Bennie usually produces.

It would be interesting to see the front of the pendant/ring if you have the time to put up a picture.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the info! Although I did not know his name, I could tell from the photo that there were letters missing and that the shank for the ring had been added later which is why the sloppier soldering had covered up some of the letters.

Here's a link where he has a picture of the front of it posted in another section of this forum - http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/today-s-finds/549701-question-maker-s-marks.html

Hard to tell since it's got people grease soaked in through the years. Wearing turquoise changes the color towards the green side.

From the matrix it looks like it might be Battle Mountain Blue Gem turquoise. The Battle Mountain mine closed a long time ago so the material is no longer available despite what some sellers claim. The last of the good Battle Mountain in the open market was back in the 70's so this piece could be from then. It's also an early style piece for Bennie so the timeline might fit. Look on this page for Blue Gem turquoise to get more information on Battle Mountain.

Thank so much! You've been a tremendous help! I definitely appreciate it. If you still speak to him, please let him know I'm his newest fan ^_^
