OK so I thought I was done hunting in IL but Soupie talked me into going south by talks of bbq and mowed crops. Soup had all the luck at first with an 1844 LC and the V nickel. Then I pulled the 1902 IH and in the last couple hours I scored my first large cent with a crusty 1820... we moved to a new field and soon pulled an 1849 large cent! I never thought I would ever find a large cent but two in one day!!!??? Love this hobby. Still picking the dirt off these but here are the pictures so far. I love the plow scars on these babys. At least 150 years of getting churned around on the farm.

Happy hunting.

you have done in one day what took me 30 years to do i found my second large cent this year congrats on making some last minutes find hope you do well with the move dennis

WOOOOHHOOOO.....Way to close out your stint here in the land of lincoln Jman....
It was a fun time having you down as always and getting a glimpse of that "First Time Find" cheesy grin with your first LC and a Oldie at that. .....Dang Priceless Man....
I was starting to worry though after the can slaw ridden 1800's school site and the void of targets old homesite across the road...although we did get a couple buttons there....The night hunt was a blast even though I lost a coil insert off the sunray...which after a prolonged daylight search has now been found....from the zig-zag tracks in the field there one might have thought we had been drinking or something...lol
The wheat fields were saved for last....tougher hunting but as you proved with two LC's in a short span of time...that was the hot spot....
Hope you enjoyed the BBQ as much as I did the cold brew...and look forward to you venturing back eastward someday and paying a visit to the land of the redneck....Take care out there Bud....

Here is the rest of the relics from the farm hunt. Scovills & Co made military buttons from 1840-1850 from what I can find. I wish it had a front. Second button is flat but has some writing I can't read on the back.
