o kay heres the deal... i have in my possession 2, 2 dollar star notes dated 1976 in excellent condition... now the auction sites, some of them these are going for 250 to 500 dollars.....i would very much like to sell these.. here are some of my sources...Q: What is a STAR Note?
A: A STAR Note is a note with a STAR (*) in the prefix or suffix position of the serial number. These notes are typically used to replace a note damaged during the printing process to maintain the correct count of notes in a serial number run. Packs of STAR notes are sometimes released when the supply is greater than what's needed. Since STAR notes are much more uncommon, they are prized by collectors. http://www.ask.com/bar?q=Star+Note+...b=0&u=http://www.ronscurrency.com/rcpmfaq.htm the link if you wish to see for your self.. here is where i get my estimate... http://www.lynknight.com/ShowAuctionDetails.Asp?auction_Id=46196 now with that said ... is any one intrested?????

Granted, star notes are less common that non-star notes, but increased demand, not limited supply (in the absence of ad hype) is what influences price. Example: one product (supply) without any buyers (demand): What is it's value? Zip.
Federal Reserve Notes from 1976 were issued by each of the 12 Fed. Reserve Banks. Star Notes from Richmond, Minneapolis and Kansas City were the rarest (640,000 bills each). Most can be purchased today for about a tenth or less of the figures you mentioned.
Don........

The auction link is for 13 crisp uncirculated notes, which sold for $180. This is only about $13.85 for each note, and this is crisp uncirculated.
