Excalibur II 1000, Xterra-70 x3, Garret ace 250,
I guess we have to start somewhere. We were hunting a local recreation area and
started digging ashes and broken glass. Next came the pieces of broken crocks and
square nails by the pounds. A few old zinc jar lids with the porcelain in them and lots
more glass. This place is right in the open. We were just playing with the new
Xterra-70 and figured try this spot looking for some clad and pulltabs to learn the
signals.
Well did we get a surprise. Clad count was 3 quarters, 1 dime, 1 nickel, and 23 zincs.
Pulltabs I think was 5.
Then the better items started. She found a Princess Pat compact lid, Shortly after I
found the Dawn compact. Soon she found the pocket knife remains and I hit the
copper lamp shade (assuming that is what it is). Next I got the razor.
This place is loaded with signals and it looks like we may have a spot to last for a
while. Two days and we only covered about 10' by 10' and didn't even clean that out.
Before the rain chased us away today I tried to do a quick walk around just to see how
far the signals might be and walked out about 70' by 100'.
I know there was an old farm house not far from where we are hunting and things
can only get better.

mtntrekr2,
congrat on the dump finds.

You mentioned that the location was, "This place is right
in the open." Also the burn ashes. :o

Any chance of doing some serious digging.

Could be some really nice finds down deeper.

Hope, whatever the situation, that you find a bunch. ;D

have a good un........

I am not sure what type of knife it is. The handles are heavy and metal. You can see
the small rivets at the ends. They are 3 1/2" long.

I do not think the park would like to see a large hole in the middle of their picnic
area. The spot is off the beaten path but still kept cut and manicured. Just amazes
me how without a little digging you would never know this is what seems to be the
old dump site from one of the farms that used to be here.

I'd take a find like that over setting here watching it run

NICE FINDS. YOU WILL FIND MORE THERE IF YOU KEEP HUNTING THAT AREA.
