Met up with Fastfrank yesterday for a hunt as I had the day off. Was good to see him again, as it's been too long since we both been out tecting.

We hit up some old spots that we've been to before as our time was limited.

Finally got a good hunt in after so many fruitless hunts over the past months.

Got 2 coppers, my 1st complete buckle! Any guess on age as well as what it was for? (I'm guessing late 1700's early 1800's).

The locket holder & tombiac thiny were from a previous hunt.

After the hunt I began my storm preparations for Sandy. Spent most of all day today working on the house, 2 trips to the dump, blow out the gutters, cut the grass, weed wack, clean out the garage for the car......

Were slated for high winds 60-70mph but only 2-3" of rain.

Stay safe out there folks.

What are the dates of the Large Cents? Nice pieces of history!

Thanks Guys! One is 1819 & the other one I think is 1826, but its so toasted.

What he said, all of it.

Thanks guys. A member of another form I belong to had to say this:

its definately a hybrid and a bad repair job , it has a 1720 to 1790's era chape
and a 1690's or older tongue , pretty uncommon to see . congrats on an unusual
piece Roger.

shoe buckles that are older than 1690 have a single pronged tongue (like
yours) and they have a chape with a single tooth to match (yours has two on the
chape with is associated with shoe buckles from 1720 to 1790's these same types
also have a "pitchfork" type tongue to match the chape) . yours is a mis match
of the two different types.
