got out with mikey and decided to go back to a site where I dug a Eagle artillery button a few weeks ago.I figured there may be another artillery button laying around. But instead I got 2 general service eagle buttons within 2 feet of eachother. a small cufflink,a musketball, small pocketknife, broken crotal bell piece and a suspender buckle.poor mike needs to get an XLT and sell that DFX :tongue3:
the dog tag and bottle are from a previous hunt with Mike.I forgot that i never posted these :-\
the 2 arrowheads I bought at a flea market for 5 bucks on the way to cellar hole

Were the GS buttons both in the same hole ??? :tongue3:
yep they were reading together! :tongue3:

That has been a fantastic site for you. It always gives up some great relics.
Congrats on those two nice eagle buttons. Great condition.

Nice finds!

I especially like the dog tag! I looked up Middlebury CT in Bill Bones's book US DOG LICENSE TAGS and the oldest known tag list is 1915. But you just found one dated 1908! THAT'S COOL!! I've already forwarded this thread to Mr. Bone ~ he will add this new info to future printings of his book.

whoa! I'm going down in history as I type.never thought I'd leave my mark in the metal detecting community as having dug the oldest dog tag in Middlebury,Ct history :tard:

awesome finds. being from Connecticut, are you a pats fan or giants fan?

Those buttons are in nice shape - good going! Those cellar holes look like fun. Never hunted one of those (probably because you don't see them down here in the waterfront areas of southeast VA). And nice pick with the arrowheads. HH ..... Bill

Hey,
In your second to last picture on the bottom left there is a piece of a "jingle bell".
I was hunting a cellar hole a few weeks back and found the exact same bell.
I will get some pics up soon... awesome finds. congrats.

Sweet finds :icon_thumleft:

I have only found 1 of those buttons...

Cufflink looks colonial

Im a proud owner of some CT Civil War history ;D
