Nice Olivella Shell Bead and Shell Disc Bead. Where are they from and are they personal finds? Two nice Birdies as well.

from a private ranch in southern new mexico, i was told.
so these Olivella's, where did they originate from? they are ocean shells, right? if so, they made it a long way here.

They were probably brought in through trade. We find a lot of Marginella Shell Beads on our Ft Ancient sites and they are seas shells from the east coast which is around 400 miles east of us. When I was at Myrtle Beach a few summers back I found all kinds of Marginellas along the beach when I was hunting Sharks Teeth.
 

man those are some of the nicest beads ive seen nice points also congrats... :thumbsup:

Nice finds, we have 'conch shell' beads & carved 'conch shells' here in OK, from the Gulf of Mexico.
Also 'copper tools' from the East, 'obsidian' from the west, there was quite a trade system going on.
