2 1/4 slides.

Does anyone know of a 2 1/4 inch slide converter? Or do I need to use a scanner? I have a 35mm slide to digital media converter, but can find little info on converting 2 1/4. My dad has a few thousand slides, and a few thousand more that were my grandmothers.

Wow! That's a lot!

I am not aware of any commercially-manufactured converter specifically for 2-1/4" transparencies
and to scan that many images may take forever and a day.

If you have access to a 12-16 megapixel digital SLR with macro lens, you may consider building a light box with a milky-white plexiglass
surface and then copy the 2-1/4" slides with that camera.

I've done this with a number of 4x5 & 8x10 negs/transparencies and it works very well.
I also used a BLACK piece of matt board that I put on top of the plexi with a center cut-out to keep
the bottm light source from flaring around the neg that I was copying.
The only thing I had left to do was crop & edit the resulting digital images in Photoshop.

I've found the best type of light to use as your light source are those spiral-shaped bulbs that
are color balanced for "Noon daylight". . . saves a lot of color balancing in photoshop.

I know that they used to make a "Copy Tube" for 35MM slides but I'm not sure if they had one for 2 1/4 in slides. You can check with some of the online photo supply stores like WEB photo and see what they have.
