My first M/D find
Detector(s) used
Garrett Ace 250
2 - $50.00 bags of pennies make a busy day.

Slim pickings for silver in the halfs. Got my first gold plated half, a bicentennial. Got a '03 S-proof, a '02P & '02D, 1-65, 3-67, 1-68, and 2-69.
11 keepers is all for 4 boxes worth of halves.

Found about 3 dozen halfs in one of the bags that were marked with "303."

Out of $100.00 (10,000) pennies, got 5-Canadian, 1-cinco centavos, 1-Euro, and 9-wheats, the oldest a 1909. Got a total of 1688 coppers.

Now to roll it all up. :P

Re: 2 -$1,000 half bags, and....

I have found quite a few here in the DFW area with the number 1001, 901, 1200, etc. Too much of a pain for me to mark each half.

Re: 2 -$1,000 half bags, and....

The only marked halves I find in Vegas are like that, anything from 1-4 digits. Congrats on the silver!

Wow, busy day to say the least! Even with the real sore eyeballs you must have, you managed to take some fine pictures. Wondering if you check for error coins or just silver/wheat?

I mostly check halves for silver/proofs/post 2001/87s or anything that jumps out at me like the gold-plated half.
The pennies I check for wheats/coppers/odd coins, and occasionally I do get errors. My eyes aren't good enough to see double-dies though, my son checks most of the pennies we do.
Thanks for the pic coment, I just lay the coins on my scanner. ;D

10-4 Scotto! Seems like a pretty thourough plan there. I especially like the part about passing the pennies by a younger set of eyes!!! G
