And yes, in the very first line the article states that they have been declared treasure by The Man. They were found by detectorists, and it doesn't appear that they were found on private property so it's not really a big deal. One nice picture at the top which shows how cool these coins look. But the patina has me wondering how pure the gold is, and even how pure they could get gold back in those days:
