The last week hasn't yielded a lot of stuff but I am very pleased with these 2 objects. I am from Va, so the button find was exciting. At first I thought the nickel was a token or something because I had never heard of the Shield nickel. The nickel is 1872. Just before I found the nickel, my digging partner found an 1876 seated Liberty dime in great condition.

A Beautiful Button & in GREAT Condition & The Shield Nickel is in good shape Also.
Congratz, Davers

excellent finds, both of them. I'd bet with proper cleaning that button would show some nice gilt, but it looks great as it is

Yeah, I am somewhat afraid of trying to clean it. If I get bold I may try some aluminum jelly . Right now I just enjoy it the way it is.

Thanks to all for your replies.

That button is in great condition. Congratulations on the find.
