Today was the first time I've been able to test my new Excellarator II coil since receiving it last Friday. I was going to test it this afternoon at a park with a sand beach that I've hunted before with the sniper coil with no luck but I decided to try it around the softball/baseball gravel parking lot where I teach. It's another area that I had previously hunted to the point where I thought it was pretty cleaned out. As to the new coil, 1st, its heavy. But not to the point where its uncomfortable. 2nd, it covers a large area quickly. 3rd, it picks up everything running in the coin mode. I only was able to hunt for about an hour but I found $1.20 in clad over previously hunted spots. 3 q, 3d, 1 n, and the rest pennies. Like anything new, it will take some getting used too. You definetly need a good handheld pinpointer to narrow your search once you start digging. I used the pinpointer on the 250 to help but you still get large coverage. All-in-all, i think I'll keep it. Until next time, so long.

Everything. I've been using the 4" sniper with its concentrated search area so it kind of overwhelmed me with its total area and amount of detection. Its definetly going to take some getting used to.

did you have to do any major sensitivity adjustments? a buddy of mine got one last week and he isnt to happy with it. im thinking maybe some adjustments are in order but im not sure, i mostly use a sniper coil so i told him he may just need to fool with it a bit. :dontknow:

i bought one too...

hard to say if it was worth it for depth yet b/c i haven't compared it to the original coil

positives (so far)
nice large scan area

negatives
hard to pinpoint (so far.. i seem to be getting better with it)

I used mine for the second time this week again at school over areas I'd already covered. I was able to extract about $2.25 in clad(40 coin total) in an hour. The pinpointer worked just like the sniper coil. I used it yesterday around a couple of old houses but the area was too trashy and I kept getting all kinds of signals so I changed back to the sniper coil and was able to sort out the signals. The Excelerator coil is just too strong for trashy areas. From what little I've used it, I'd say it will be great over already searched areas and non-trashy places . Its like everything else, you'll have to use it and learn it.

Curious of the return on investment of the EXcellerator II vs the Garrett made 12x10 coil... The EII is 2x the $$$$
