Hi
My 1st Roman Coin !

It is 25mm in diameter
Weighs 12g
When found it was smooth but encrusted.
It has what looks like a gold gilt with a copper colour showing underneath.
Sorry about the photos, but it is badly worn.:BangHead:

Front shows a head facing right with a crown on
Rear shows what looks like a tower on the left with a letter M by the top right of it.

This coin was found on a neighbours property with his FULL approval, he helped me dig it out !:icon_thumright:

Fuzz..

Heres to my 2nd one

Have been told it could be Trajan 98ad - 117ad

That was my first thought based on the profile, & the weight indicates a Dupondius.

Here is a link to a Trajan/Abundantia dupondius (RIC 460) – from wildwinds http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/trajan/RIC_0460.jpg. On Fuzzbg’s reverse you need to rotate it 180 degrees (as attached) to get an idea of the dress rather than a column and the child aspect rather than a M etc.

On closer inspection,
He is a lot younger on my coin
His crown looks to be made of foilage
I spent ages looking for the right coin.
The reverse could be right as there is some cross hatch marks on the 'Column'

No need to worry how they look age wise.

Its either a crown or laureate (foilage), not both on top of the head. If foilage its an 'AS' not a Dupondus (which has the spiked crown).
