That saloon token rocks!

Re: 1st post

I believe your whatzit? might be the top of an electrical device, it looks like those are solder joints where other wires would have connected. I thought it might be the top of a battery because I have seen some like that come from inside rechargeable items.

That token is really cool.

Hi i have contacted in excess of 20
sellers on ebay about information
on the saloon token i will keep everyone
informed of what i find out about it.

So far NO LUCK finding a dealer on Ebay
who knows anything about this token.

That saloon token is SWEET!! I bet you'd have to put out some serious cash if you wanted to buy one of those bad boys from a coin dealer! NICE!!!!!

Great finds, TH! Really like that token...it's different. Now, how in the world did you manage to find those fancy looking tabs? I can't never seem to find any. I still have the 1st one ever found.

Joe Macha Saloon Token

Your token, Joe Macha, Aransas, Buckhorn Saloon, is very likely from Shiner, Texas up in Lavaca County, about a hundred miles northeast of your location near Tilden, Texas ( McMullen county). Joe Macha was a saloon keeper in Shiner, Texas in 1905, 1914, and 1910. He was also a saloon keeper in Moulton, Texas (Lavaca County), which is about 10 miles north of Shiner, in the year 1897. So first he was in Moulton, and by 1905 was in Shiner where he likely stayed until prohibition shut the saloons down about 1917. As to the value of the token, in the condition it is in from the photograph, I would estimate a fair market value of about $50. Kind of low, mainly because of the clip that took off two of the lobes, the scratches and corrosion. Also it lacks having the town name and state on the token, which decreases value. On the bright side, it does have the word "saloon" and has the proprietor's name which makes it easier to verify the location of the business and date.
