After nosing around on Monday, returning to this field seemed the best option. Specially as I thought last time I had found a new spur of coins. I confirmed this small annex of coins today after 5 hours solo hunting, with my support crew of 1.
As I was extending out into a new area of the field there was plenty to dig mostly because the recent rain had made the longer stubble more supple & it also gave me more depth on the flatter areas.

13 Roman Coins
1 Lead Token
1 Jetton
2 x 17th C Tokens, one IDed as John Rowley of Luton 1657. (One I need)
18-19th C Horse brass
1st C AD Fibula (Roman Brooch)
A failed cast piece of bronze (probably Roman), very odd shaped of what looks like the internal workings of a ?
Bronze Mount thingy
Circa 1685 Charles II Trade Weight (53 Grams) - Another 1st for me.

So 2 finds I need equals another good day.

Ps Pepper, I got you some greenies.

It kind of makes me sick every time you post. I know its going to be a bunch of stuff, and always some really good stuff i can't even think about trying to find over the pond by me. Looks like once again you did great, nice finds:icon_thumleft:

as always, I agree with what he just said, you constantly find things several hundred years older than our country. I do see that you do glean the ground pretty good when you go, you sure make your detector work for you

Holy Cow! I'm breaking out with a severe case of treasure envy! In 5 hours you got all that?? Congrats seems way too small a response for such a beautiful haul! Cheers, mate! :occasion14:

Good day. Filling white spots in the album is always welcome. Is that a cheapo love token out of a copper coin in the third pic?

Yes I dug all that plus a small tub of scrap lead, & loads of junk in 5 hours. It's an average haul once I get going, but not everyday we get a first/firsts.

Yeap seems to be a Geo Farthing.

An excellent bunch of finds. Right time periods for something good to turn up at any moment. Wife and I just got back from Scotland. The whole time I was looking at the fields and drooling. :D

Cheers,

Buck

Awesome finds! I would love to come over there some day and find a fibula!

This one was pretty large & near complete, but was found way outside the spread of coins all out on its own. That's why its good to push the limits of the site in the right direction.

You know you have it good when 13 Roman Coins would just be another ho-hum day.
We like at least 1 hour average, but we prefer 10/hr for a good site.

Scotland's a lovely place but a pretty hard hunt.

Excellent assortment of goodies. Another fibula for the pile? You must have a lot.

Cheers and beers

So how many of your finds do you have to turn into the government?

Great finds.

Nicely done!!! Congrats and HH

We are not required by Law to record any of those items. However, this is one of the farms that allows us to record their Roman Coins directly with our contact at the British Museum (BM), so they will all be going to London soon. We voluntarily record about 500 Roman Coins a year with the BM.

But to answer your question, I have only had to declare 3 items so far this year. That's quite a lot so far, as we only do about 1-5 every year. Most of these (90%) they will return (disclaimed) to me after recording, but it takes 15-18 months.

Oh what a relief to see once again the photo filled with greenies, even though a couple are disc hits. :laughing7:
Great to see some results from the soft stubble as it can be a pain if left high. Liking the Fibular and weight.
Getting a couple of firsts after what you have dug over the years is a very good day in my books. Congrats.
The piece of castings cleaned up reminds me of part of a key?
