Hello all! I got a new toy Saturday, an AT Pro! Still not sure if I'll sell the Mxt pro or not but I may have to. I got up with a couple of friends Saturday & hit a spot that's been pounded. We managed to endure the off & on rain & save a few goodies. My favorite find was the Confederate Enfield bullet, a first for me. I also got a few other relics & a wheatie. I thought the saddle decorations were really neat, especially since they are still attached to leather. My friend got a large cent in good shape which was the find of the day. We had lunch & hit a spot that produced very little. My friend got a kepi buckle & I found this rosette. It was bent but cleaned up pretty good with aluminum jelly. It was a fun hunt & I was able to make a few finds with my new machine. It's going to take some practice to get used to it but I like it so far. Thanks for looking & HH!

Nice first outing Josh. I've never used an AT Pro, but have seen one in action plenty of times as it's my partner Dan's weapon of choice. He does extremely well with it as it goes quite deep and is outstanding in the heavy iron. I'm sure you'll be happy with it. It might be a good idea to hang onto your other machine as a back-up, and occasionally it's nice to have with you in case a property owner would like to give it a try. Sometimes by asking a property owner to hunt with you can help get access to a site. And the MXT is a very easy machine to use and would work great for a new user. Anyway, just an idea. Good luck to you.

Still looks like a positive day! Always fun digging up history no matter if there is no value. Better days ahead!

That is a good idea. I would like to keep it for all of those reasons. I would also like one for my Dad to use (he primarily looks for Native American artifacts now). Finances are my only issue but maybe I'll sell some gold jewelry I found instead of the Mxt. I won't part with any of my relics.

Enjoy the AT Pro Josh. It should serve you well in all the iron laden areas you hunt.

Welcome to the club! Looks like you're not having much trouble figuring it out so far! Nice saves!

I wouldn't worry about selling the other one. Just get out there, find a couple gold rings and sell them! ;)
Should keep a back up anyway.

Congrats!

Great saves ,thanks for showing the back of the "saddle decorations" I've found a few of them & did not know what they were. Also congratz, on your first Enfield bullet .
Just curios , what type of CW era bullet do you dig the most in your area. THANKS Davers

Thanks Davers. I don't do too much Civil War hunting specifically. This is only the 3rd CW bullet I've found. I have been fortunate enough to find 2 NC Confederate buttons, an eagle button & a wreath buckle at homesites.

Cool thanks for the quick answer. No NC. buttons here yet, other than the one I purchased.
& ill bet the wreath was a great surprise .( never found one of those either) .
Good Day .& Good luck ....Davers

Congrats on that bullet and your NEW TOY!!!!! It's AWESOME to pull great finds out of heavily hunted sites!! I just got an ATgold for some iron sites of mine and hope it does as well as your PRO did.. again CONGRATS.... HH

i think you will like your ATPRO i love mine i hunt with a couple of minlab guys one has a etrac the other one has a 3030 i can hold my own againist the etrac but the 3030 goes a little deeper but at 2500 the 3030 should be a better machine .but at 4 times the cost of the atpro it is not 4 times the machine . so go out and find some gold rings and have fun .

And with the new toy comes the return to hunted sites. Opens up a whole new chapter. I think you will be seeing a lot more CW finds this next year.

Great finds with your new AT Pro Josh. Those saddle decor pieces are always fun to find. Maybe the new machine with find the other 1/2 of your wreath buckle. :dontknow: I hope so. I had an AT Pro for a brief time and it was dead on when finding silver coins. I wish I would have kept it, but like you, something had to go at the time.
Wish ya all the best, and looking forward to seeing your upcoming posts.

I had an MXT Pro, but sold it (great unit, but just too heavy for me) and bought my 2nd AT Pro as a back up! It too, in my opinion, is very easy to learn "out the box." By having it as my spare, I was able to offer it to a friend who got us onto a great CW spot here in Virginia. I made several nice finds and he found the nose end of an artillery shell. So, yes, having that extra machine comes in handy in many ways. You're gonna love the AT Pro - great finds!
