1st GOLD RING 1920's men's Art Deco ring

Went out to my favorite spot yesterday and found my first Gold ring... I found many sterling rings but that gold ring has always eluded me.

The day before I met up with car91rs for quick hunt which resulted in a few finds. I think the best one was an old Navy button. Well, I was not satisfied and decided to go out and see if I could find a Unicorn (gold) and to my surprise that iffy signal and slight turn at the last second proved to be the difference in missing that Unicorn.

Just before receiving a text from the wife asking where I was, made the difference between continuing straight and that slight hesitation which for no reason made me turn right and back track to a previous spot where I had dug a few holes the day before.

I tell you, that inner detectors instincts sometimes slaps you in the face and says, "it's over here!" Lol

Sometimes I think God loves watching our expressions when we almost give up and then puts that treat in front of us to see if we thank him... Well, needless to say say I never stop thanking him...

Great find! Too bad about the stone missing. May still be there somewhere! Really like that silver too! Looks great cleaned up!

Congrats on the very nice finds. The rings are nice! GL&HH.

You could find a really nice stone to go in that setting since it is rectangular - a nice Jade ,or Carnelian wouldn't set you back
too much (except for Imperial Jade !) What is the setting in the sterling ring ? glass ? That site is just magic for you !!!

The funny thing is, I dropped it off at the jeweler hrs later... I'm going with a mother of pearl on it a turquoise on another ring i found prior to this one, but i like your idea about carnelian. I saw it after i dropped it off and liked it. i might just change it to carnelian.

great comment about god. Good finds there. Take a pic when its done.

Thank you Shoague, without him nothing is possible... just hung up with the jeweler and decided to go with carnelian on the ring and mother of pearl on the other. the other ring is a OB Sterling + 10K ring. I posted it a while back on Oct 16 2014. I think the mother of pearl will go nice on it. as soon as i get them back I'll post them on here

I see the silver ring is broken. What kind of ID did your machine give on it?

I am always fascinated that broken rings read like crap. I imagine that there are quite a few gold ones that are never found because they might not even produce a signal.

That's a nice vintage honker!! I swear I have yet to find a Gold ring that fits me...That one Fits you great!
How much does he weight?

I Agree, we hunt in the water and some places I can just dig a hole then scan the sides and then the dumpings and

find rings that never would have been found unless the coil is setting right on them.

Thanks OBN, it weighs 9g... i sent it out to get a stone on it the same day. i was too excited and was wearing it at home when the wife asked me to take off the ring with no stone as she laughed. i was gonna get a mother of pearl but someone (Argentium) convinced me to get a carnelian instead, lol.

9 grams is a Nice size!! Post us a pic when you get all redone..

those rings are beautiful, both cleaned up well!!!

Just got a call from the jeweler and they said they could not put a mother of pearl or carnelian stone on the ring cause it was too big, lol. She said acrylic would be cheaper than onyx and thats what she recommended. lmao!!!!

Time to try another jeweler... I'll keep you guys posted and hopefully post a pick after its finish...

I would bet they are right, the facing is huge!

UPDATE 4-1-15

Just picked up my ring and decided to go with a jade stone instead... not bad for an old dumpsite find from the early 1900's...
