Today feels like the first day I met my wife,or the first time I drove! Today I found GOLD!!!!. Some of you have helped me with suggestions in trying to find two GOLD rings that he lost over the last 5 years. I have hunted with all my coils to a now expanded area of 100' X 25' that is edged with a pool aluminum enclosure and 6" x 12" railroad ties that are filled with Rail Road Tie Spikes. Today I tried out my new Garrett GTI 2500 Super Sniper Coil on the area. I took my first swing just feeling the new weight and got a triple hit 2 strong, 1 faint. Being new at this I did it again and again and dropped to my knees with my digging tool and carefully started digging, I should say shaving the dirt away. I did not bother with the pinpointer as I knew I had already missed what I was hitting when I went over the entire area with it. I shaved down along the timber about 5 inches and caught my first glimpse of the band pinned against the timber. I pulled it gently out, it was dainty and smaller than I thought and with the color of the gold I wasn't sure..again being new. I took it and rinsed it off. I immediately took it to my dad with it on my little finger. "Is this one of the ones you lost?" He jumped up and said, "yes that is the little one."

I was there to do some other Number #1 son work and fought the need to swing for more.."tomorrow, tomorrow" the little voice said! I did not have my cell phone on me at the time, so I only have pics of the rinsed ring, which was cast from several different types of gold including dental and scrap. Total weight 5 grams. So I also got to Honor our Code and bless my Father with the ability to complete a very special ring for a special little girl!

I am amazed at my Sniper Coil. I can't believe what a fantastic coil this is and can't wait to get back to Dad's in the morning! I am amazed and thankful! Here are a couple of the pics!

Nicely done! Always feels good to see silver in the hole. I was so excited for my first, a 1924 class ring at a well hunted park. Nicely done.

Well done!!! 🙌

SAY YOU FOUND WHAT...

Very cool story! Congratulations on making your dad VERY happy!!

Great story, thank you for sharing! :occasion14:

Great find and story of returning a lost ring to your father. Another amazing thing you mention is when you showed him the ring he "jumped" up. To be 89 and anything like "jumping" up reveals how excited he was too. My dad is 84 so I know.

A pretty ring of gold, and to help your dad in finding it shows father and son love.

the best part is being able to actually return it to him while he is still around to see it. congrats

Nice finds, nice story as well!
