1st Find

Found this a year ago......what is it?? (1st EVER swing First ever find, thought detec. was broken)
It has stamped on it.....'PAT APRIL23rd 1878'
'PAT OCT 21st 1884'
Also 'Winding' with an arrow with a feathered tail in an anticlock direction

Great relic!! Old one too couldnt find anything on the date, but it might have been a lantern cover, for where you put the fuel in, or a bunch of other things like it with a screw on cap...the list is endless

What does the bottom look like?

The edge is knurled and the skirt on the bottom is slotted to be able to screw it on

It is most likely the spring catch for an early wind up toy. I would reacon it to be from a car or tractor. Remember that the older toys were huge! Good luck and HH! Chris
