1st Fav Field.........

I have been working all week & resting in the evenings to recover from last week.
We were not really going to bother with this field this year, as it was not deep ploughed & only tickled.
However, as it was early drilled with oil seed rape & perfectly flat we decided to try it. Problem was the farmer wanted us on today only (worried about the crop), so we respected his wishes & detected 3.5 hours until it was dark.
We did far better than I expected. I had put the 11" coil on to pull a few deeper finds. It still managed to find some really small hammered (3 to me, 1 to Dad). Although he got the nice Georgian Seal Matrix.

Charles I Penny
Hammered Farthing & a poor hammered

A very good session. Looking forward to tomorrow on our 2nd Fav.

He's on holiday.

The coil pulled the halfgroat at about 4 inches, not bad I thought. Its about the 35th hammered from this field over the years. I thought we had got most of them, but they keep coming. This is a field we have cleared most coke,nails & tiny pieces of lead, so not much left to mask anything.

I was raised in a camping family, I love the hard floor, no blow up beds for me. You must know you're from the North, I'm the weak Southern

Great outdoors, can't beat it. Spent plenty of time chasing the fish whilst camping as well but thats a distant memory
