I've had my eye on a new spot now for quite the while. Today I finally mustered up enough courage to just blatantly barge onto the property and kindly ask for permission. In exchange for detecting time, I offered my hand in any yardwork and groundskeeping chores. This new site happens to be a church on an old backroad built in the early 1800's. The chairman of the property took kindly to me and assured me that it was OK to hunt the Church, The School, and several old "saltbox" houses in the "neighborhood". And to boot, there are countless cellar holes walking distance from these sites. Today I got a quick hunt on the church lawn. Back in 1879, almost a thousand people showed up for the 100 year anniversary of the little town I live in. Including several civil war veterans. Unfortunately my hunt was cut short due to the rain, but I managed to come up with this "military" pin or whatever it may be. Someone take a peak and give me a clue.

Seems like a very easy article to lose.

Good Scout find. A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine called me to find his son's Boy Scout
slide. He just gave his son the slide and he lost it the same day. I told him I had a bunch of them and he could take his choice, but he said he really wanted to find his son's. So I went and looked for it, of course I found it in only 5 minutes. The Dad was happier than the son. Just goes to show you, in the old day's a boy would have had to work hard to buy one of those slides, now Dad just buys his son one. Not the same unless you earn it.

By the way next year is the 100 anniversary of the Boy Scouts!!

:headbang: Wow congrats on getting permission to all of that - awesome. I also like tohe idea of offering a hand in any yardwork and groundskeeping chores. though that might backfire i personally like the offering of 10% of the finds (just an idea).

I feel the same. Nothing is genuine unless you truly earn it. My Father never handed me anything unless I worked for it. He showed me true values.

I never joined the boyscouts, but I sure can build a hot fire and tie a mean knot.

Great job, I love finding them!!!!
