Took my minelab explorer se to my Circa 1790 cellar hole i've been hitting for 5 yrs now. Its surrounded by a 40 acre hay field on 1 side and a 40 acre corn field on the other. My research shows it was built circa 1790 and last lived in about 1865. I have never found a coin newer then an 1862 ihp . Next time I will get pics of the cellar hole, I forgot today. 2 large coppers is a good start of a new year, both typical of 200+ years of fertilizer and age . I believe the American large cent is 1818 [ not for sure ]. And the other a king George of some sort, pretty rough but as soon as I plucked it from the hole I could feel it being much thinner then a large cent. That is my 9th KG from this site, and number 31 American large cent from this site. Well over 200 flat buttons from there also. The button i'm showing today has me stumped, I was ready to throw it in the pile with the others but back marks are odd to me, any help would be great. The front side is smooth, no nothing. --- DSCN0651.jpg--DSCN0632.JPG-DSCN0665.JPG-DSCN0663.JPG---forgot to mention it was 38 degrees- no bugs

Nice finds! Congrats! :icon_thumleft: That's an interesting button. Can you make any sense of the writing on the back?

Real cool hunt,at a very productive site nice big coppers.
That button stumps me too...some writing on it but when enlarged it gets very blurry .

Nice stuff. I believe the button dates to the approximately age when the coppers were lost: 1820-1840. The British had the "goods" on us with backmarks at first, so I would think it's British made.

That's an interesting button and always nice to get some coppers, congrats
