Found these over the past week on several different hunts. 1902 IH, 1935 GW quarter, dateless Buffalo, some kind of astrology token for Sagittarius, and 20 bucks.
After passing my coil over some leaves I got a good ol' beer can hit that nearly blew my eardrums out, I kicked at the leaves not only to find the can, but the $20 as well. Found the IH a little while later at the same spot.
The silver quarter was a nice find as I had about an hour of light to work with, pulled about 3 bucks in clad, and was determined not to stop until I pulled something non clad out of the ground.
The Sagittarius token kind of pissed me off as I expected something else that dated to the area I was hunting. I think I walked away with that token and 12 cents.
And now that my DFX has been on the fritz since Wednesday and I am awaiting it's replacement, yesterday I checked out a spot that I used to go as a kid (not that long ago as I'm 31 now). This spot is filled with billions of pieces of iron, broken glass, bullets, shells, all kinds of crap. It used to be dump/ firing range. In other words it's a metal detectors worst nightmare. You couldn't hunt this spot with a 1" coil. The only good thing about it is it's on white sand, and I've pulled a few silver coins just looking around in the past. I took a look yesterday hoping to pull something. The Buffalo nickel was just laying there in what appearred to be a pile of a dissintegrated 55gallon drum.
