You know, that's a really good question!

I'm going to have to rummage through my stuff and see!

Re: 19th & early 20th century iPods

I only haver a small hand full of intact reeds, one complete harmonica I found at a gold mine that disintegrated after it started to dry. I find pieces of harmonicas nearly every hunt on the German fields. HH, Mike

Neil, I have found about the same amount of reeds as you have in your photo over the years. Like you, I enjoy finding them and wondering to myself what songs came across those reeds. Happy upbeat tunes or da blooz?

Too many to count.

On a guess over a 100 diff one's and types. That is not a under statement. It's a good sign when they are coming up.

Bet you never found one like this one! I would definitely put my numbers with yours. I never saved them until recently. I wish I had more knowledge of the construction so I could better date the site I am searching. This is what I love about this hobby!

I just found a link that I will have to look at in more detail when I have time:

OMG!!! Nice finds. I must have thrown a few of those away not knowing just what I had. I have been detecting on a nearby farm and found alot of CW items along with a few of these. Being very new at this, I didn't know what they were and just put them in my trash pocket. What a lesson I have just be threw. Congrats on the finds and thanks for sharing. That's why I really like this site, I always learn something great and gain so much from the people here. Thanks again.

I dug around an isolated old foundation last evening, and probably found 8 of these in different places. Why would one small house have 8 discarded harmonicas in its yard? Must have been nothing to do in that neck of the woods way back when, except sit on the porch playing the harmonica.

Re: 19th & early 20th century iPods

Over the years, I know I found more than I could scrounge up right now, and have about half dozen more in packets of recent finds, but bascially I know most of the pieces are either gone or stored in my junk boxes in the garage. No idea on how many found, but here is what I have available to photograph now.
