Hello everyone just found this 1983 Lincoln penny with odd mint mark. I am just learning how to look for coins that might be worth money. tHIS PENNY IS VERY ODD around the mint mark. Can anyone tell me what i have here? Has anyone seen this before? DSCF0256.JPGDSCF0257.JPGDSCF0258.JPG

Not a coin expert, sorry. Looks pretty interesting, though! There are other guys on here that are pretty knowledgeable in different fields. Try seeing if there are coin chat rooms too. Nice find!

1983 cents are all copper plated zinc. That makes the likelihood of many suspect errors similar in appearance to yours to be a plating issue, and not an error, such as an internal die chip.

The images provided are not clear enough for me do make a sound judgement either way. I would advise taking it to a meeting of a local numismatic or coin club. They can help. You could also ask at a local coin shop.

Time for more coffee.

There is no need to post the same item in multiple threads.

For a reasonable answer to this item, see my comment on your other thread on this item.

Time to add something to the coffee.

Pictures are not the bust but looks to be a plating blister by the mint mark.
