Looking through my last batch of Pennies, it just so happen that two 1982's were sitting next to each other. As I picked them up, I noticed that they were different. One was a large date, the other a small date.

Should I be happy, or are these pretty common (no value)??

I have attached two pics. It doesn't show the difference very well, but they are indeed different.

What do you think?

Hello Grooved,

Unfortunately they are not rare or valuable. 1982 was also the year that penny's changed from copper to zinc. From what i understand they made about 8 different pennies that year. (You must count the large and small dates of each, the no mint mark(P) and Denver(D), and then the copper versions and the zinc versions.)

Hope this helped,

Mike in SC

Thanks for the info. I kinda figured that where I found so many of both varieties. Oh well... keep on searching!
