1976 -D cent is this normal.

Please describe what you believe is abnormal. I see only normal wear for a coin 40 years in circulation. Could be I am looking through the wrong field of my trifocals.

Okay, in ICETEK's second post/photo,
the Obverse of the coin,
under the D in "GOD",
there is a ragged hole, a hollow space there.
That (could be) the result of internal erosion - the coin is imploding...! =O
...we see that with all these stinkin' zincoln cents that have been in the ground awhile,
...especially in acidic soils....!
 

1976 isn't a zinc cent, the change took place in 1982.
