I bought this Spaceview today after work. It appears to have a following. All original except the band. I'm taking it to my jewer for a battery change and band replacement. I prefer a leather black band. as always, thank you for your comments and opinions.

Accutron 218 M8 Very Rare model. Technically a space view but not traditional. What did you pay? Hopefully you got it on the cheap and you scored! ( I would put this as a 1968?

Beautiful watch. Hope it starts up after the new battery. Congrats

Nice. I know I got a gold filled Accutron leather strap buckle in my watch stuff somewhere? I know it had a raised Accutron fork logo on it and I'm saving it for the next gold filled Accutron I find. I've only got two stainless 214s in my collection now and don't know if either of them run. I've sold off the ones I had that did run. If you look on eBay you can find a genuine Accutron strap and buckle for not much money and that would go perfect with the leather strap your wanting to put on this one you got.

Thanks to all. I appreciate it. It is actually an M9, so that would put it at 1969. I took it to my watchmaker, he put a new battery, and it hums like a lovely hummingbird! Unfortunately, it does not run. He said that it needed to be serviced. He's an elderly gentleman with over 40 years of experience, but he said that he could not do it, as his eyes are not sharp anymore for the work needed. Wonderful gentleman, someone that you can sit with and talk for hours. :-) Finally, it is 14kt gold filled. They did make them in 14kt gold and 18kt gold. I actually just paid $20. Thanks again.

I love the watch, thank you for sharing! :icon_thumleft:

Very nice find. Crazy there’s still guys out there running watch shops like that. Never seen one.

Here are a few pictures with a new and beautiful leather band! Thanks.

Very nice and very unusual. Did you try whacking it firmly at the 9 o’clock or 3 o’clock position. Sometimes these need to jumpstart.I will PM you a guy that will service it for $125

In 25 years of servicing Accutron watch's I have serviced or repaired 4-5 of these 218-1 Accutron 218 Skeleton watches. They are indeed original Bulova made. I have seen the movements from both the USA and Swiss movements. The watch face is the hardest piece to find. There is an actual Bulova Accutron part # for the Skeletonized "Date Bridge". The watches have the following in common: Watch Face, Date Bridge, Watch Hands. The case is either Solid Gold or Gold filled and the second hand is either with or without the Tuning Fork emblem. Artslinger's watch is the only one I have actually seen with an authentic Accutron Metal Band. I have one in my collection with year code N4 in a Gold Filled Case. I have taken the solid case back off and replaced it with a clear acrylic back. Kudos for sharing your finds.
