1965 half Dollar %90 silver?

The 1965 halves were 40% silver. Definitely a keeper

In my roll searches I have found several 40% halves that I thought were 90% by looking at the edges, but after looking at the date found out different. The copper cladding is just not as visible on some as the majority of them are.

Hi i would get a 15x loupe to look at edge to see if you can see an copper color. There 40% are silver clad, But there are some 1965 that are 90% silver there is only a hand full and very rare they can bring about $7,000.00 to $12,000.00 There are know sliver 1965 dimes and quarter and the sell for a lot. I know a guy use to have a dime and got 6,000.00 for it.

If there is not a lot of wear on the coin, weight would be a good indicator. 12.50 grams for a 90%, 11.50 grams for a 40%.

I still find alot of 40% silver halves in my roll searches, But with silver above 10.00 U.S. per ounce alot more people will be searching for them. Good luck and good hunting.
