I just got the 2008 Redbook but I don't see what the TDO and DDO are supposed to represent. I just see $6 for the 64D and $30 for the Heavily Accented Hair Proof. What am I missing here?

DDO and TDO stand for Double Die Obverse and Triple Die Obverse.

Here are some images of various varieties

Yeah, but the book doesn't mention the errors on the 64. It does on the 74 and it must have been very common on the 74 as the value is the same as the non-error version.

I don't have the latest Redbook but they only list a few of the varieties or errors. I think that is why the Cherrypickers guide is a good tool. Of course I don't have one to look at and I should pick one up. Maybe I can work a trade 64-D DDO for a Cherrypickers book ;D

Way to go 65GT! I love finding those error coins! I must admit that I don't have the cherrypickers book either, but apparently we both should get one. I always look for the well know common error halves, but the book would surely highlight so many more lesser known error years. Those pictures are great and there is no doubt about the ddo, I just hope you do have a tdo! My coin shop guy has a tdo 1942s cent that he will sell for $1,100... I would certainly consider getting it looked at. Be sure to update if you find out more about the 64. HH! Gpurs

Gee whiz....so I read this thread, and get out my 1964 halves (I have 19....waiting to get a full roll before turning them in).

Not a single one is a 1964-D.

This is just one more thing to look out for inthe future!

Are you sure? I would double check by the eagle leg holding the olive branches. That is where the mint mark is on the 1964 halves. All the other Kennedy halves have the mint mark below the neck.

Nice finds 65. I didn't realize the 64's had these DDO/TDO errors. I don't have the cherrypickers book either.

Thanks for the post.

Those pictures are not of my coin but pictures of different varieties. I spent some time at the coneca website last night trying to figure out what versions I have and think it is the DD0-005 and DDO-003 but I am not sure yet.

Oops....thanks for mentioning that. I am so used to looking under the neck, that I forgot it is different on the 1964s. Guess I will check them again tonight when I get home.
;D
