That is pretty neat,I think with the unemployment rate being up so high that way too many people are having to get into there old/saved money. It is a good time to keep your eyes open and watch the change and the bills.

WTG on the ten bucks. That was an import year in history for all of us. I put it in a safe place.

I now see the connection.

A bit of serendipity to find a note that old in good condition. However, it was not printed in 1963. Don't confuse the series date with the date a note is printed. Your note was not printed before 1965. Still a nice find.

Do you know of any resources that could help me figure out when i was printed then? i never knew that.

there we go. i changed the name of the topic so as not to offend anyone with the "old" gesture. I didnt mean it as a bad thing i promise. I was just surprised that i was able to get one that was made 1963. there we go. i didnt describe it as "old" that time. ;D Thanks for lookin yall.

Wow..Looks alot nicer than my 1950 $5 bill that I found several years ago....mine is pretty wrinkled .....yours is amazing....must have been put away for quite a while....congrats and way to go on finding a goodie....

johnnyrebel00 - I don't have any specific resources to offer. I do know that some series of notes may run for more than 10 years. The "A" below the date means a revision was made to the original 1963 series note. I've seen some notes that have B, C, D, etc, below the date if several revisions have been made to the original series note. Major changes in note design will start a new date series. In the case of your note, the revision was probably when Henry A. Fowler was appointed Secretary of the Treasury in 1965 by then President Johnson. Therefore, after his appointment in 1965, his signature appears on federal reserve notes, which would mean a revision of the original 1963 series note. Mr. Fowler only served as Secretary of the Treasury for a few years; your note would have been printed while he held that position.

As far as describing your note as "old" : old is a relative term; a mid-60's baseball card is "old", a mid-60's automobile is "old", why cant a mid-60's 10 dollar bill be "old" ?

Thanks for the info on bills. i never knew any of that. i am gonna have to do some diggin myself to see what i can come up with.

Hard times has forced someone to pull it from a collection and spend it at starbucks :-\ Great shape too.
