Hi ya'll... I posted this before but really couldn't get a good pic of this, I think now I do so I'll try some pics here.

The Dome is clearly doubled, shifted die?

The base of the steps, the bottom step is worn as you would expect, but underneith the steps is another step, shifted die? Also the lettering is too.

The front of the nickel also has the doubling effect.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

Hey Dig, It looks to be some doubling. See what a local coin dealer says. If they offer to buy it from you, then you'll know!!!!! You may want to get it graded then ;D

hard to tell from those pics- I can't see what caused it... what is strange is the "doubling" appears to go in different directions, to the south from the steps, but to the NorthEast on the lettering? First guess is it's not a mechanical error, unless it was hit three times with a fairly worn die.

Does the doubling on the letters have nice rounded edges like the original, or is it flat and "shelflike"?

Are there any splits on the pointy tips of the letters that can still be seen?
