Newer at coin hunting. Not completely dumb to it, but found quite a few errors today, was needing to get some information:) it'll be much appreciated! image.jpg few chips obverse and reverse and possibly a double strike mint?

1978 D penny with the mint covered up and double die possible? Seems the 8 on the date is nicely spaced as well

Welcome to the forum. Are you new to the world of variety and error identification? If so, I would encourage you to begin the process by doing some research on post-mint damage, machine doubling, varieties, and errors. Most of the coins you find with damage/doubling have no added value. You have to learn to distinguish between coins that have added value and common damage machine doubling. I'm sure others can give you a better starting point but I'll give you a resource. Check out the faq section on the lincoln cent resource site.
