I had just turned on my machine and 5 minutes into the hunt and I pop out a 1924-S mercury dime. It was only 1 inch deep on the top of a slope. All the top soil on this slope had washed down the hill leaving the hard pan dirt. The black oxidized Merc dime was easy pickings in that hard clay. Later at a different site I dug out a 1945 Micro S Merc dime at 4 inches and a 1946-D Rosie at 6 inches. Also dug up 6 wheaties and a little clad to pay for some gas.
