1944 Silver Quarter

Found this nice 44 5 1/2 inches down, it was in a lot near the beach in Biloxi Mississippi. I went down to hunt the beach but since Gustav washed through the beaches are still off limits. And oh yes we still have IKE to harass us next week. The Quarter was painted red? I used some cleaner and it came off and showed a pretty worn coin!

Silver is good..even if painted red...Now that doesn't make much sense.

I have seen metal detecting clubs paint there coins before a hunt. At the end of the day they can keep track of what coins were found. still a cool find
