There's one coin I will never find because of discrimination. Very nice condition and an ultra rare find!

I found my only steely laying on the floor at the local store in front of a coin exchange machine...Nice digs jgas :)

you must have been hunting in all metal mode?

yea I was in all metal mode. I am going to use all metal mode and try to dig up everything until I can't take digging everything anymore. I just think there is alot of cool stuff I'm passing up by using just coin mode:)

Congrats on the cent! I am glad to see you are using all metal mode! I use Relic Mode, which ignores small iron but everything else is accepted. If you discriminate out all the iron you will miss good targets due to masking. What did that cent ID at? If I recall, the steel cents are very ferrous and will be attracted by a magnet!

goes, beautiful injun on your avatar! did you clean it and if, how? i have a few but am not up on cleaning. Bill. flyinguy.

if I remember correctly it ID'ed as iron. The bell tones were consistent so I dug it up. Also yes the penny sticks to a magnet. I tried it hehe

Yes I cleaned it. It had alot of rust on it. I was told this method for cleaning coins. Vinegar and baking soda or salt. I tried both. Then used a soft brush

You're exactly right. I approach all my coin sites with a Relic Hunter's Mindset. That's the only way to go.

Thank you for posting this find--Not too many of these coming up.

That's one reason why I really liked the Fisher 1266-x, I dug everything with that machine and I miss finding all of those cool relics. Nowadays, I am all about coins & jewelry :icon_scratch:

The 1266 actually cherrypicks fairly well, and I like the nuances of the beeps on the machine. I can tell what something is, as well as how big it is, and roughly how deep it is.

And at over a foot on a coin or bullet, you can't beat it.

Nice find! I have found a few that looked that good but usually not. What you want to find is a 1943 copper penny.
