So I made a quick stop to try a new spot before dark, and a 1943-s beeped in about 5 minutes into the hunt. Do you think this could be a doubled die?

I'm not seeing any doubling myself. Let me drink a few more beers and come back and check again

I'm not seeing it and I can't see much of an error on the other examples listed as 43 double die quarters on the internet either. Maybe someone who knows more about these will offer an opinion.

Impossible to tell without clear macro photos. Go here for a great reference. Split serifs on lettering and/or date is the smoking gun for most doubled dies. Be sure to read the section on "worthless doubling." Good luck to you.
