1942/1 mercury dime, found in coinstar...?

Whoever found it had a story about how their dad used to have one and either had it stolen or lost it in some way where it wasn't his choice. They already made the decision to give it to his dad as a gift. That puppy is already spoken for...

I think that was silver spoon who found it.

Yes, you bring up a good point, now that you say that I remember about how the guys dad had one, but not anymore.... It made the story that much more cooler, I would feel bad buying that coin from him even if he wanted to sell it....Thanks for the reminder, I will move on.

Anybody else have one that they would might sell???

I was the guy who found it. The story was my dad was up from florida and told me he had found a 42 over 41 in 1959 on his paper route. The next day I was dumping at TD and found 2 silver coins in the reject bin. One was a 59 quarter and the other was the 42 over 41. Needless to say, you should have seen his face when he saw the one I had found , who knows , maybe it was the same coin. But either way what are the odds of me finding these coins the day after he told me the story. HH

That story is what makes it so amazing, not to mention the value of that find. I just looked at pics again, (thanks Ckrakowski), and yeah, IM not past neophite in the coin world yet, but I do know that coin is in phenominal condition... I cant even believe you found that in a coinstar. Honestly, I really think that should have made the banner. In fact, I would be willing to bet that if you posted that story with a good pic of the coin, (both sides) in "Today's Finds" it would totally be a "banner find".... Congrats again.

Chris.
