Worked hard all day cutting up some downed limbs and helping work up the new flower bed. Finally I decided to head out and not come back without something good. Went to 3 different spots and dug all kinds of alum cans and canfetti, not even a memorial. >:( Finally just as the sun went down, I got a coin signal and dug down about 5 inches. At first I thought I'd found a Skoal can lid but it was way too heavy when I picked it up. It says "Mickey Mouse 1937 Hollywood Calif. USA around the rim and Mickey's holding a paint brush.

Finally a quote from Kovel's: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20050710/news_1hs10kovels.html

My husband has had a round Mickey Mouse belt buckle since he was a child. It's 2½ inches in diameter, with an embossed Mickey holding a paintbrush. Above him are the embossed words "Mickey Mouse, 1937, Hollywood, Cal., U.S.A." Can you tell me what it's worth?

It's worth very little, because it's one of two well-known Mickey Mouse belt-buckle fakes manufactured in large quantities during the 1970s. No buckle like it was ever authorized or licensed by Disney, in 1937 or any other year. The other fake that often turns up is a rectangular buckle showing Mickey peering through a telescope.

Regardless, it's a fantastic find. CONGRATS!!

 RR

The one he found on the net that was fake (I think) had a different hook on the back, so it is possible this is a real one :dontknow:

But either way very cool, he comes in I am in kitchen cookin and he says no coins but one cool find! and is it ever! :headbang:

Kewl find, Stoney!

Sounds like Evy's got you working overtime this spring. :director: :D

Nana

Now wait just a darn minute Stoney! Is the item metal or not? Is is tangible, ie something that is real you can hold in your hand? Is it something you found with your machine???

Then if you answered yes to all of those questions it's not a fake at all!!!! It is a really cool find and one I would be super excited to have made!!!!!

Good job

BEF, we'll try and get it cleaned up later.

ME, The DeLeon struck again, this time it was with the 3X18 coil. You come to CTHII and I'll let you hold the buckle.

I wish I would have paid a little more attention to that coil! If you bring it to CTH2 and I get to come I want to look at it!!!

And I love the way it pinpoints as well as the area it can cover in open areas. I think the depth reading is off a tad as it's not calibrated to the machine but it still does good.

Jeff,

Great find! ;D

I took your pics and enhanced them with Microsoft Digital Image Suite.
What do you think?
