I went hunting tonight in a spot that I have been to a few times... I needed to make sure I got all the area covered to the best of my ability... and I feel I have.... I only found 5 memorials and 1 nickel... a buffalo nickel! I knew it was a buffalo nickel but thats all... it was very dirty... I don't know why I don't find many buffalo nickels but I don't... this is like #2 for the year. and from what I read most buffalo nickels don't have good dates and the mint mark is also gone...

Well first of all I wanted to see the date... so I cleaned it up enough to see 1937 D. so I look it up and by chance its the year of the 3 legged buffalo nickel. I started to get excited!!! The date is very visible... I started running back and forth looking for some cleaning tools... I use a tooth brush and water and never dull and slowly the dirt started coming off. Unfortunately it was not to be... he has all 4 of his legs... well at least I thought I had a chance for a 3 legged buffalo nickel.

Thanks for looking.

That's a bummer it wasnt a 3 legger, but i'd consider it a small victory to find a Buff with a date on it

That one sure came out of the ground nice.

it sure did... I was surprised the hardened dirt came off too... its the best looking buffalo I have even with its current dirt color.

Thanks
