Hello everyone!

I took a drive up to the Corvallis area today with my detecting bro-in-law Kip ~ he's from Eastern Idaho, but he's working in Oregon now! The entire family will be moving over here in the next month or so ~ very exciting for our family! They've lived about 750 miles away from us ~ its gonna be great to have them living so close now!

We met up with Richard & Ron ~ Richard had already dug a 1914-S Barber Dime by the time we showed up! They said Mike W was close by detecting too, but we never saw him ~ he must have found a good spot somewhere else!

Here's what I dug today:

1936-S Mercury dime
1945-S War Nickel
3 wheats ~ '46-S, '56-D, & '57-D
7 clad quarters
11 clad dimes
1 modern nickel
42 memorial cents

I took pic's of the merc dime & war nickel before and after I cleaned them up. The Merc dime is my silver coin find #28 for 2009! I took pic's of the obverse & reverse of the merc dime because it is in such good condition! It's probably the highest great merc dimes I've ever dug. The pic's really don't do it justice ~ it looks much better in person.

Thanks for looking!
Neil

Nice coins, Neil. What did you do to the war nickel to get that amazing transformation? The merc is sweet!

The war nickel had a layer of dirt on it ~ just as I found it. I gave it a little baking soda & water paste scrub! I don't recommend doing that type of cleaning to a high grade coin or key date coin! But it's OK to do to a common date coin.
