What do you mean 'D series?'

This is a 1934 FRN from the Chicago FRB. With all due respect I think you are mixed up on what series you have.

The 'star' bill shown above is a 1934 (plain) FRN. 2008 Red Book (retail): $300 in VF-20.
If the bill were, in fact, a 1934-D FRN, it's value (as per the above reference) would be $1,500 in VF-20

The small 'D' and 'D3' that you see on your note indicate which plate number and plate position that your particular note was printed on.

Here is a link to a 1934D Chicago $100 note that sold for $2K plus buyer premium. (sold in 2007).
