Found this today at an 1800s farm site in NJ. Its made by Manoil and dates from 1935 to 1942. The first two pics are the one I found, the last pic is one I saw online.

I love finding toys and that is one sweet toy.

very cool toy find, you know that it was a cherished toy to some kid

I love my lead toy finds. That one you have there is WAY COOL! I'd be happy happy joy joy with that mate.:headbang:

Awesome find. He came from the factory with a tan colored, cloth wrapped wire in the shape of a rope lariat in his hands. A craft store should supply you with a nice substitute. Sub 8-)

Hello mburnsgps. That is an extra nice vintage toy find. Always good to find the oldie toys like that one especially in such good shape. Now you gotta go back and find his horse...it's there somewhere. Good Luck. C9

Sweet find and it still has some paint left on it! :occasion14:

It's a 1930s dimestore cowboy created by Barclay Manufacturing Company, one of the largest toy manufacturers in the USA at its peak, and active between c.1922 and 1971.

Don.......

Nice! Lead phobia is overrated. We used to make all sorts of things from old lead from car batteries etc, when we were kids. I am still perfectly normal...well ... :tongue3:

Don.......

I agree Don, it is a Barclay, but the eBay seller described it wrong...In the early Barclay catalog it is described as, "752 Cowboy with Lasso." It came in two versions, one with and one without a painted on "mask" i.e., a handkerchief painted around the lower face...cheers, Sub 8-)

Cool find, the only lead toy i have found was a ww1 soldier with a tommy gun sans the helmet
