1929 "National Currency" $5.00 and $10.00 Bills and now the $20.00

I posted these in Paper currency section also but I wanted to show them here also. My wife got a 1929 "National Currency" $5.00 bill yesterday and a 1929 "National Currency" $10.00 bill today from the same customer. They both say "The Central Valley National Bank" Central Valley New York on them and are both still crisp like a new bill. I thought they were very neat looking.

Back then, each bank had it's own money printed.

When I was a bank teller in the late 70's, we had an uncut sheet of five $20 bills with the bank name and the signature of the bank founder. They were dated @ 1920.

The bank president at the time was the grandson of the original founder. He was saving the bills till his retirement so he could buy them out of the vault at face value ($100), then sell them to a collector. I left there before he retired. Don't know what happened to them...

He also had a couple $1,000s and several $500s he was saving. The bank examiners always gave us grief about them.

Anyway, cool bills! Good eye to pick them out from circulation.

The person giving them to the bank probably thought he got away with something passing old obsolete bills like that. Little did the person know... too bad for the person... but good for you.

Those are two very cool looking bills. If you want to get an idea of value, go to ebay advanced search, check the completed auctions box, select the coins and paper currency category, and for your key words type in the search box - national currency. You can also sort the results by highest price first. Your $10 bill seems to be worth between $100 and $400, though I'm not expert in paper money.

well Ken if you would send these 2 bills off to the PAPER MONEY GUARANTEE CORP.
and have them GRADED you would mostlikely be able toget between $250~425
for both notes

Thanks Everyone for that info. Believe it or not, today the same girl came in with the $20.00 bill and my wife told her if she has anymore keep bringing them. LOL

If they have the exact same serial number DO NOT sell them separately!!! Worth well more as a set!!! they make a paper money price guide magazine.. you should run to your borders or some place like that an page Thur it to see if you can come up with a price.... from my research I was tryin to do for you it seems the price varies on what banks name is on the bill... I seen some as high as 5,500.00 for one an same site has some I guess the price is so high you had to call for the price ... Awesome find..

Also correct me if I'm wrong not a collector but isn't A000003 mean that was the 3rd bill printed? a low number like that alone could bring the value up..correct?

A000003 was the third bill printed in the series. That $20 will bring SEVERAL hundred dollars, hold onto it.
