Hello!
On Saturday I went my daughter to Western Oregon University in Monmouth for 'preview day'. We had a great time together ~ she's real excited about going to college there in the future.
After we were done there I went metal detecting in the small town of Independence. I had never been there before and didn't quite know where to go detecting so I found a elementary school that looked pretty old, and I started detecting around there. I didn't find a lot there, so I decided to hunt some easements in the neighborhood. I ended up with a 5 wheat cents (the best one being a 1922-D), a silver CTR ring, some clad, and a disk of metal that has a hole in it from being shot! One side reads, SHOT WITH A REMINGTON RIFLE, and the other side reads, SHOT WITH U. M. C. CARTRIDGE.
I took a close-up picture of the date area on the 1922-D Wheat cent ~ not real easy to see in the picture. I didn't need to zoom in that tightly I guess.
The Mormon CTR ring is only the 3rd one of these that I've ever found in the last 18 years of detecting. It's the smallest one also ~ only 1.7 grams.
Thanks for looking!
Neil
